Third Friday of Lent - Mar. 16th 2001
One of the most beautiful statues of Christ that I have ever seen is a rarely viewed work by
the great artist, Michaelangelo. Christ Resurrected stands at the mouth of the tomb in the
stark beauty into which he was born. I was only 17 years old when I first saw this work and
our whole high school was obliged to view a documentary on the life of Michaelangelo
and his works. I, inadvertently, viewing it some five times that day. To this day, however,
this particular piece in question I have not seen again, yet its memory is forever embedded.
It was the great "beauty" of Christ Resurrected, shaded in muted and mysterious
tones of sepia, that captured my heart that day long ago. Over the years, in my search
for God, consequent conversion and meditations upon my sins, it is this "beauty"
that ever propelled me toward the Godhead. No amount of grief over my sins and failings
could compare with the great beauty and mercy that was Christ's. That I now may join
my own suffering, sins and failings to that of the Crucified is no small amount of
wonder for me. It is for this reason that I now look  forward to sharing in the
Resurrection that awaits all who give their life to Christ - and him Crucified.

Circle of Prayer
A Circle of Prayer around the world praying for and with each other, for peace and for a world in crisis. Please read more about it and perhaps join us, prayer was never more needed than it is in these times!

Holy Souls Crusade

Praying all year round for the souls of our deceased relatives and friends, for the souls of those most in need of prayer and for those souls in purgatory who have nobody to pray for them.

Moytura has several other sites with a 'Christian flavour'. As part of the 'Journey' section of the website join me to learn a little of the Early Christian Church in Ireland by visiting Clonmacnoise, started by St. Ciaran on the banks of the River Shannon in the 6th. Century.
Read about Saint Brendan the Navigator who started a Monastic settlement in the tiny village of Clonfert on the Galway/Offaly/Tipperary border, again in the 6th century.

Travel on my journeys to two of Canada's most famous Catholic Shrines -
Saint Anne de Beaupré and Cap de la Madeleine, both on the shores of the Saint Lawrence river in Quebec. Finally

I welcome you to come with me to see a little of Medugorje, a peaceful haven in a war-torn country - Bosnia Herzogonia.

On a much lighter note we have a full section called Prayerful Thoughts & Thoughtful Prayers

Please also pay a visit to  Moytura's Irish Bookshop where you can find books on the history of
Christianity in IrelandIrish Prayers and Celtic Christianity
