SOLID FOUNDATIONS

FOR NO-ONE CAN LAY A FOUNDATION OTHER THAN….JESUS CHRIST. 1 CORINTHIANS 3:11

Have you ever walked around a building site? Before the guys get busy with the bricks and mortar something really important has to happen, a bloke in a JCB has to get digging. He’s got the most important job – the foundations. If the foundations aren’t right then the house is doomed. Oh, it might stand for a few years but sooner or later the cracks will start appearing – then it’s game over.

Your life needs solid foundations too, and God’s way of laying them is by his word, it’s solid as cement. Here’s some of the things he says to you:

1) ‘I Love you’ God’s love is not some wishy washy – airy fairy emotions. It’s the total devotion in which his perfect justice and mercy meet. Sounds like a pretty secure position to be in, don’t you think?

2) ‘You’re very important to me’ If you’ve grown up feeling ignored or unwanted, you need to hear this. You’re so important to God that, ‘…he purchased our freedom through the blood of his Son…’ (Ephesians 1:7 NLT). How’s that for value? God is interested in every part of your life and that’ll never change!

3) ‘I have a destiny for you’

Without a supportive environment to grow up in, you can end up with absolutely no idea why on earth you are alive, or completely the wrong idea. God has got big plans for you – and to help you He’s ‘given…you…special abilities’ (1Peter 4:10 TLB). And get this: He’s ‘raised us up with Christ’ (Ephesians 2:6 NIV). So hold your head up high and don’t let anybody tell you your life doesn’t matter. It does, because God says so!

Short Prayer for Today
Psalm 4

"Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer....  Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety."

Moytura has several other sites with a 'Christian flavour'. As part of my Journey section of the website join me to learn a little of the Early Christian Church in Ireland by visiting Clonmacnoise, started by St. Ciaran on the banks of the River Shannon in the 6th. Century. Read about Saint Brendan the Navigator who started a Monastic settlement in the tiny village of Clonfert on the Galway/Offaly/Tipperary border, again in the 6th century.

Travel on my journeys to two of Canada's most famous Catholic Shrines - Saint Anne de Beaupré and Cap de la Madeleine, both on the shores of the Saint Lawrence river in Quebec. Finally I welcome you to come with me to see a little of Medugorje, a peaceful haven in a war-torn country - Bosnia Herzogonia.

On a much lighter note we have a full section called Prayerful Thoughts & Thoughtful Prayers

Please also pay a visit to  Moytura's Irish Bookshop where you can find books on the history of
