Becoming "known" on the Internet is not going to happen by chance. And it's not going to happen just because you register with search engines. Many of the ways you market off-line can be carried over to your online marketing. For example, you will want to include your web site address on your business card and your stationery. You may want to send out a press release. Perhaps you'll want to mail aflyer or postcard to current clients to announce your new site. You'll want to "network," that is, tell friends and business associates about your site. Online networking can be done by participating in forums that are related to your products or services. A proven method of online marketing is to send out a free e-zine. Start out by contacting people on your current email list to seeif they would like to subscribe. Then add a form on your site to invite visitors to become subscribers. Visit sites that offer complementary products or services and ask if they would be interested in reciprocal linking.
